Insane Moon

(copyright 2005 Rebecca Turner)

There was just an insane moon, hanging so low in the sky.
I'd been trying to say something; all year I'd tried and tried.
But when I saw the moon, bigger than the street,
I knew that things had changed, at least.

This wasn't the same moon. It was looking like an eye.
I could practically touch it, though it was many worlds wide.
It was real and unreal, at the same time.
It was yours, and it was also mine.

Ooh, it kind of opened up everything.
And now, I'm at the precipice of getting free.
And just like that moon, I'm not afraid to be
so near the earth and you.

I was all by myself then, going out to get some bread.
But if someone had been there, this is what I would have said:
"Have you ever seen a moon, such a crazy shade of gold?
I feel young, and I feel also old."

Moon, moon, never go away.
Open up my lips every day, every day.

I was all by myself then, going out to clear my head.
But if someone had been there, this is what I would have said:
"Have you ever seen a moon, such a crazy shade of gold?
I feel young, I feel alive I feel old."
